Kevwe Akpore is set to begin the first season of his second stint as the head men’s soccer coach. He previously coached the team in 2010 and 2011.
Coach Akpore inherits a program that Coach O'Connor led to an overall record of 45-16-3 and a record of 23-2-0 within the Midwest Conference (MWC) in four years at the helm, after serving three seasons as an assistant coach. The team also won the MWC regular season title in 2019 and 2021 and the MWC tournament championship in 2018 and 2021 to advance to the NCAA tournament.
The men’s soccer team returns 21 players from last year and will be joined by 12 newcomers. Lucas Piqueras, Martin Garcia, Alex White, Joel Sanchez, and Nicolas Lantzendorffer highlight a strong group of returners who started a majority of the games last season. White led the team with six goals and an assist for a total of 13 points. Piqueras added five goals while also turning in a stellar performance on the defensive end. Lantzendorffer racked up 68 saves for an .819 save percentage and .909 goals against average. He picked up eight shutouts.
