The cost of nearly everything might be increasing because of rising inflation rates, but one place remains unaffected - Monmouth College's regular-season home athletic events.
Once again this school year, all home regular-season Fighting Scots athletic events are free and open to the public. The College's free-admission policy has been in place for more than a decade.
"We welcome members of the community, students, faculty, staff, alumni and fans to join us on campus to cheer on the Fighting Scots all season long," said Monmouth Director of Athletics Roger Haynes. "The great thing about our athletics' admission policy is that no one needs to secure a ticket in advance of our home contests. We provide great family entertainment through our athletics programs, and in this current climate we are thrilled to make events free to everyone."
Monmouth's free admission policy applies only to regular-season games held on campus; postseason events' admission policies are governed by the Midwest Conference and the NCAA. Their ticket policies supersede Monmouth's and apply when the Scots host a conference or NCAA postseason event. Ticket information for those events will be announced when it is applicable and available.
Concession stands are open at select Monmouth home events. Money raised from concession sales supports the Fighting Scots Society, which benefits all student-athletes, facilities and athletic programs.
Monmouth's first home event of the 2022-23 season will be a women's tennis match against Central College at noon Saturday, Aug. 27, at the newly surfaced tennis courts on Sixth Street.
Football, women's soccer and men's soccer all have home events on Saturday, Sept. 3, while the volleyball home-opener is set for Tuesday, Sept. 6. The Monmouth golf teams will be home on Sept. 17-18 for the Fighting Scot Invite, and the cross country teams will host the Midwest Conference Championships on Oct. 29 at Gibson Woods.
