The Monmouth College track and field teams won two Midwest Conference awards on Tuesday. Shane Anderson (Lisle, Illinois) was named men's indoor field performer of the week while Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) won the same award on the women's side.
Anderson won the weight throw at Saturday's Frigid Bee Opener with a career-best throw of 18.22m. That performance is the seventh-best throw in Monmouth history and put him first in the MWC and fourth nationally after the opening weekend. Anderson also threw 13.72m in the shot put, ranking third in the MWC behind two Monmouth teammates.
Boley was second in the weight throw at 15.50m and third in the shot put at 12.13m on Saturday at the Frigid Bee Opener. In the weight throw she had the best D3 throw at the event and in shot she was second among all D3 throwers to teammate Kayla Braun (Evansville, Illinois). Boley ranks #1 in the MWC this season in the weight, 18th nationally, and she ranks second in the MWC in the shot and 25th nationally.
Anderson was the indoor field performer of the week last January and Boley won the final weekly award of the indoor season in Feb. 2023. The Scots are off until hosting the Midwest Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 20 in the Huff Center Fieldhouse.
