Cee Sarcomo’s goal with 7:36 remaining lifted the Monmouth-Roseville soccer team to a 1-1 tie September 17 against the Streator Bulldogs at the James Street Athletic Complex.
Francisco Tomas Francisco slipped a pass in the center of the field to Sarcomo, who tapped the ball past a defender and created a 1-on-1 breakaway with Streator goalie Andrew Vogel. Sarcomo’s finish was his fourth goal of the year and followed a late game-winner he had against Canton last week.
The hosts took the lead midway through the first half when Garritt Benstine had a first-touch finish on David Paton’s corner.
The visiting Titans held an 8-4 edge in corner kicks, but shots were even at 9-9. M-R’s Isaac Garcia made three saves, including an outstanding effort on Streator’s final shot, a long-range effort by Dalton Sliker. Vogel made one save for Streator.
In the JV game, Streator scored a pair of late goals to top M-R 2-0.
