Boys Soccer: Monmouth-Roseville 3, Riverdale 2

Monmouth-Roseville rallied with two goals in the final 69 seconds of the first half and held on in the second to defeat the host Riverdale Rams October 1.

On their Senior Night, the Rams took a pair of one-goal leads in the first half, both thanks to the combination of seniors Aiden Sensabaugh and Brody Clark. In the game’s fourth minute, Sensabaugh beat three defenders down the right-hand side, drew M-R goalie Isaac Garcia out and slipped a pass to Clark for an easy tap-in.

M-R equalized with 11:16 to play when Daniel Cinzah crossed the ball into the box and Kevin Vazquez took advantage of misplay to put the ball in the back of the net.

But Clark and Sensabaugh clicked again, when Clark racing down the left side and firing from close range at Garcia, who stopped the first shot but could not keep Sensabaugh from scoring on the rebound.

That put the Rans ahead 2-1 with just three minutes left in the half, but M-R had a reply, with Bruntsh Bolese scoring off a corner kick with 1:09 to play and then breaking the tie on a great shot 36 seconds later. Cinzah and Derrek Martell had the assists on the corner kick goal.

The second half was not as wide open, as M-R held the Rams to just two shots. For the game, the Titans held a 15-6 edge in shots and an 11-0 advantage on corners.

In the JV game, M-R’s Cristian Arrellano scored a goal in each half as the Titans won 2-0.
