Boys Soccer: Peoria Christian 7, Monmouth-Roseville 0

Peoria Christian entered September 13th's game against Monmouth-Roseville ranked No. 2 in the state in Class 1A by MaxPreps, and the host Chargers lived up to that billing, posting a 7-0 shutout against the visiting Titans at EastSide Center.

Jacob Walton got PC’s scoring started in the third minute, knocking home a free ball in the box, and he doubled the lead seven minutes later after a miscue by the Titans’ defense.

The Chargers put the game away late in the half, scoring a pair of goals in the final four minutes, including Colson Below’s header off a cross from Quinton Hynek, the first of two Hynek crosses that were headed in for goals. The other was put into the net by Landyn Hauter with just under 10 minutes to play to close the scoring. Trae Brickner also headed in a cross past M-R goalie Isaac Garcia, and Walton completed his hat trick with a rebound goal after an initial Garcia save.

PC held a 21-2 edge in shots while improving to 8-0-1 on the season.

In the JV game, M-R held PC to just one goal until late in the game, when the Chargers scored twice for a 3-0 victory.
