Rylan Fischer converted a one-on-one opportunity against Monmouth-Roseville goalkeeper Isaac Garcia in the game’s 14th minute, and his goal was enough to give visiting Quincy Notre Dame a 1-0 victory over the Titans at Pattee Fields Monday night.
M-R’s Derrek Martell and Kevin Vazquez played in their first games of the season and provided a big lift for a Titan squad still playing without two of their leading attackers.
Garcia finished the game with five saves, including a pair of outstanding ones, as QND held a 15-2 edge in shots and a 9-1 edge in corners, with several coming in the game’s final six minutes.
The Titans will take a 3-3-2 record into action Thursday at Galesburg.
In a JV tournament at Oregon over the weekend, the Titans tied Dixon 3-3 and suffered a trio of one-goal defeats to Oregon, Mendota and Genoa-Kingston.
