On Sunday, October 27 Sabrina’s Bridal will be hosting their first bridal show since 2020. The Falling in Love Bridal and Prom Show will be at The Knights of Columbus, 1556 East Fremont Street, from 1-3 p.m.

“We had hosted bridal shows in the past as a fundraiser for Safe Harbor. Lia wanted to do a fundraiser for Rainbow Riders, so we decided to merge them together. This will be the start of Lia’s year as 2025 Junior Miss Galesburg and the kickoff of her Community Service Initiative.” explained Sabrina Barraza.

Rainbow Riders is “a therapeutic horseback riding program that provides equine-assisted activities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our mission is dedicated to providing safe, professional, and affordable therapeutic horseback riding and un-mounted horsemanship opportunities that contribute positively to the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being of children and adults with special needs in the community. Through riding and other horse-related activities, we create opportunities for personal growth, confidence building, and meaningful connections. Whether it's enhancing motor skills, boosting self-esteem, or simply providing a joyful experience, Rainbow Riders is all about making a positive impact in the lives of those we serve.” explained Savannah Franklund, Assistant Director of Rainbow Riders.

Rainbow Riders is located in Monmouth.

Lia Barraza Sloan chose to fundraise for Rainbow Riders “so they can get an indoor arena that way they can have classes year round. Currently when it’s too hot or cold to ride outside they have to cancel classes. I heard they were trying to raise money for an arena and I thought that I could help with that.”

“My son David, Lia’s younger brother, is 7. He’s autistic and has participated in Rainbow Riders for the last two years. Lia gets to ride with him at his lessons. My uncle passed away a while ago and Rainbow Riders has helped her work through that grief. David has also flourished. Rainbow Riders has expanded his speech and confidence. It’s been very helpful for them.” added Barraza.

Tickets for the Bridal Show can be purchased in advance for “$5 on Eventbrite. Every ticket purchased receives two chances for $500 off a wedding gown or free prom dress (up to $500). Tickets can also be purchased at the door for $10 and will receive one chance to win.”

At the show there will be “the following vendors with displays: It’s Electric Entertainment, Senior Moments Wedding Photography, Y 3 Bling by Paparazzi, Mason French Battle Bus, Mary Kay, Sabrina’s Bridal & Prom, Knights of Columbus, Lake Storey Pavilion, Princess Creation, Pampered Chef, Up All Night, Stems & Petals, Young Dance Inc., I Do Events, Tupperware, Harley’s Pub Banquet Hall, Knox Family Smiles, HyVee Florist on Main Street, and Tiny Acres Events. There will also be a silent auction for Rainbow Riders with close to 100 items ranging from Knox Family Smiles to Spray Tan by Angie. A fashion show featuring Lia’s pageant sisters, adults modeling prom and wedding dresses, and a sneak peak of 2025 styles will start at 3 p.m.”

Barraza Sloan would like the Galesburg community to know “come watch my pageant sisters and please support Rainbow Riders.”

Rainbow Riders is proud to serve the Galesburg, Monmouth, and surrounding communities. Your support has been instrumental in helping Rainbow Riders grow and continue to offer life-changing experiences for individuals. It’s a privilege to be part of such a caring and generous community, and we look forward to deepening our impact and creating more opportunities for healing and growth through our programs. Thank you for embracing our mission and for believing in the power of horses to make a difference in people’s lives. We are also so thankful to have Lia and her wonderful family for all of their support, and being part of our Rainbow Riders family.” added Franklund.
