Cikauskas Named Second Team Preseason All-American

Monmouth College football's defensive end Anthony Cikauskas (Oswego, Illinois) was named second team preseason All-American by D3football.com on Thursday.

As a sophomore in the 2023 season, Cikauskas was named All-American by the Assosiated Press, American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and D3football.com. He was a first-team selection by the AP and AFCA and a fourth-team selection by D3football.com.

Cikauskas led all Division III players in sacks last season with a school record 17. The MWC Defensive Line MVP averaged 1.55 sacks per game and his 17 sacks accounted for 110 lost yards. He also led the nation with 26 tackles for loss with 2.4 per game, accounting for 140 lost yards. In 11 games, Cikauskas posted 57 total tackles, five QB hurries, five forced fumbles, one recovery, one blocked kick and two pass breakups. The forced fumbles tied a single-season school record while the 26 TFL tied the record set by Korbyn Personett in 2021.

Cikauskas enters the 2024 season with 22.5 career sacks, 33.5 career tackles for loss and six career fumbles forced. He ranks seventh on Monmouth's career sacks record, 12 behind Thomas Lesniewski (2015-18) and tied for ninth on the career TFL list. The career record for fumbles forced is eight, set by Jack Porter (2011-14).

The Monmouth football team reports to campus next week and the season opener is set for Saturday, September 7 at home against Wartburg with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
