The City of Galesburg will offer a new option for citizens to engage and interact with the city. A citizen engagement portal on the city's website and a City of Galesburg app, both powered by iWorQ, are set to launch on Friday, January 21, 2022. Citizens can utilize the citizen engagement portal or app to submit service requests quickly and conveniently. Requests can be submitted for a variety of questions or issues, such as reporting a pothole, needed maintenance at a park, or property maintenance violations such as trash or weeds at a neighboring property.
Citizens who would like to use this new feature can simply click "Report a Problem" on the home page of the city's website to access this feature. Submitting a request is quick and easy, as the system walks the user through choices of the type of request they'd like to submit, along with the ability to choose the location of the issue on a map. Citizens will include their contact information with the request in order to receive updates as the issue is addressed by City personnel. The same resource, as well as shortcuts to additional City resources and information, can also be found on the City of Galesburg app.
The new app, City of Galesburg, can be found in the Google Play Store for Android devices beginning on Friday, January 21, and will become available in the App Store for Apple devices shortly thereafter. Users of the app can submit requests through the app, as well as access some of the most frequently utilized online services, such as water bill payment.
"We are happy to be able to offer another opportunity for citizens to connect with the City," said City Manager Todd Thompson. "Often citizens may have a request but are unsure of who they need to contact. The citizen engagement portal allows them to quickly and conveniently submit their request, which will be routed to the correct City team member to address the issue. We anticipate that this technology will streamline the routing and response to requests, and therefore assist in the achievement of the overarching goal of responsive government."
The new City website, which launched in 2021, was designed to be mobile compatible. This will provide citizens a quality mobile experience when they access the City's website and citizen engagement portal from their smartphone or tablet. The app is also available for download, and citizens continue to have the option to call or visit City Hall to speak with city personnel.
The City of Galesburg strives to provide a multitude of opportunities for access to information and resources, and the new citizen engagement portal and app provide an additional option for citizens. Tutorial videos for some of the online city resources can be found on the City's YouTube Channel, and a new video on the citizen engagement portal will be added soon. Additional information and resources can be found on the City's website, including City social media, streaming City Council meetings live, and contacting City staff via email.
