The Galesburg Public Library Board of Trustees accepted a bid from Williams Brothers Construction, Inc. of Peoria Heights, IL for the construction of the new library building. The base bid from the construction company was $16,360,000. Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring and will be complete by the end of 2023. The new Galesburg Public Library has been
designed by architects from FEH Design and will be located on the corner of West Main and South Academy Streets.
The construction of a new library is made possible by the State of Illinois Public Library Construction Act Grant of $15,373,257 and a local capital campaign to raise $3,750,000. The Galesburg Public Library Foundation has raised over $1,280,000 in donations to date.
