Habitat for Humanity of Knox County Welcomes New Executive Director

The governing Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity of Knox County Illinois is pleased to announce it has named Jim Walters Executive Director. Jim comes to Habitat with 25 years of nonprofit leadership experience. He has a bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University and a Master’s degree from Eastern Illinois University. Jim began his duties as ED August 2, 2021.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to work with the community and lead our Christian housing ministry” Walters said. Habitat has served Knox County since 1993 and built or rehabilitated 55 homes. Habitat partners with hard working families to build decent and safe housing. Each Habitat homeowner helps build their own home through sweat equity and has a mortgage that is

affordable to them. The homes are made affordable because of the efforts of hundreds of volunteers here in Knox County.
