Kickapoo Creek Winery is located 36 miles outside of Galesburg in Edwards, IL. Kickapoo Creek Winery has a banquet facility, bridal suite, tasting room, Kickapoo Creek Catering company, and walking trails.

It has changed a lot from the 250 acres Dr. David Conner purchased in the 1980’s after he retired as an Orthopedic Surgeon. At the time the land was used as a thoroughbred horse farm. Dr. Conner turned it into a cattle farm. In the 1990’s he got tired of chasing the cows around, sold them, and started Conner Nursery & Garden. They specialized in growing Hosta plants. In 2001 Dr. Conner planted his first crop of grapes and opened Kickapoo Creek Winery shortly after.

Now their vineyards expand over 14 acres. They focus on handcrafting wine in small batches from the grapes grown in their own vineyard. Kickapoo Creek Winery makes and sells 20 types of wine from white to infused, there are many options. “We are proud to announce our newest wine, Rescue Red. A portion of the profits for each bottle of Rescue Red goes to local animal shelters. All of us are animal lovers at Kickapoo Creek Winery including our owner, so it was an easy decision for us to make a wine that would give back to animal rescues.” Laurie Bushell the Kickapoo Creek Winery general manager announced. Rescue Red has a deep garnet color with a dark cherry flavor followed by whispers of plum and a cool finish. It pairs well with a variety of cheese, spicy beef brisket, and dark chocolate. You can purchase Rescue Red on their website https://kickapoocreekwinery.com/ or in person.

If you decide to purchase Rescue Red in person, check out their restaurant! Currently their

restaurant is open with a limited menu. The full menu will be back in a couple of weeks. Laurie Bushell the general manager of Kickapoo Creek Winery recommended, “We have the best spinach artichoke dip I’ve ever had. Other popular menu items are the turkey reuben which is our most popular sandwich and our homemade chips. Our menu has a little bit of everything from gourmet burgers to salted caramel mousse cake.”

As soon as the weather warms up Kickapoo Creek Winery will be starting Live Music Friday Nights on the patio. Each Live Music Friday Night you can enjoy wine, live music, and food from their restaurant. Kickapoo Creek Winery will be scheduling events on their calendar within the next couple of weeks. You can check their website event page and facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/KickapooCreekWinery, for updates on their future events. In the past they have had a fall festival and grape stomp.

As Covid-19 restrictions lift and the weather warms up Bushell would like everyone to know, “Kickapoo Creek Winery has everything you need for a successful event. We have the ability to host any event you can think of with rooms of various sizes and outdoor options. Our grounds are beautiful with the two lakes, it's the perfect place for a picnic. We have so much to offer and can’t wait to help make your event memorable.”
