GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire volleyball team dropped a three set match to Carl Sandburg College on Monday night.
The Chargers took the first set 25-15 and the second set 25-8. Knox put up quite the fight in the third set, trailing by just two late in the set. However, Sandburg was able to hold on for the 25-22 win to earn the 3-0 victory in the match.
Catessa Duran led the Prairie Fire with 10 kills for a .240 attack percentage. Emme Patton added 19 digs and Olivia Hukel tallied 11 assists. Anne McKim also chipped in a pair of blocks.
"Sandburg is a tough team," said head coach Pat Barry. "That being said, I believe we are capable of what we showed in the third set. The first two sets are not indicative of who we are and who we want to be. We will get back to work this week to shore up some of those things."
Knox returns to action as they travel to Lawrence on October 2 to resume Midwest Conference play.
