GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire men's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie with Ripon on Saturday afternoon for Homecoming.
Knox was in control for the majority of the game, outshooting the Redhawks 29-8 overall. Arito Nakamichi gave the Prairie Fire an early lead with a goal in the eighth minute of the game. Knox held an 11-3 advantage in shots on goal. Ripon scored a goal in the 84th minute on one of their two shots in the second half.
"We had Ripon on the ropes the entire game, but just could not quite score that second goal," said head coach Kevwe Akpore. "It is disappointing for the guys as this tie knocked us out of the conference tournament. This one is going to sting for awhile, but it will light a fire under our guys to come back stronger next season."
The Prairie Fire concluded their season with a 2-2-4 record in conference play to finish just out of the top four in conference.
