Grinnell tied the game at 56-56 early in the fourth quarter, but the Prairie Fire responded with a 7-0 run to retake the lead. The Pioneers cut the deficit to two points with 4:20 left to play. Knox took control from there to earn the victory.

"We played well down the stretch in this one," said head coach Kira Mowen. "We shot very well in the second half after grinding through the first half. We can't always rely on our shooting to save us, but I'm very proud of the way we fought the whole game to stay in it to give ourselves the chance to pull away at the end."
