The Monmouth College men's and women's swim teams competed in their first home meet of the season on October 25 against Augustana. The men lost 135-47 while the women lost 148-35.
MEN
Tariq McLarty (South Holland, Illinois) won the 100 butterfly in a time of 53.43. Freshman Bucket Youvan (Rochester, Indiana) won the 50 yard freestyle in 22.82 with Eli Wills (Blue Springs, Missouri) also earning a point in 24.81.
McLarty and Youvan teamed with Luke Foster (Galesburg, Illinois) and Tristan Kennon (Flossmoor, Illinois) to win the 200 yard freestyle relay in 1:31.42. Foster, Coyne, McLarty and Youvan finished third in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:42.37.Kennon took third in the 200 yard freestyle in 1:53.93. The fifth-year senior also earned two points with a fourth place finish in the 100 freestyle in 50.90.
Kody Coyne (Bluffton, Indiana) earned two points with a fifth place finish in the 200 yard IM in 2:15.28. He also earned two points with a fifth place finish in 1:06.39 in the 100 breaststroke and Ethan Main (Oneida, Illinois) picked up a point in 1:08.11.
Freshman Jordan Bridgford (Kapolei, Hawai'i) finished fourth in the 100 backstroke in 1:02.22 to earn two points.
WOMEN
The women's 200 yard medley relay team of Cally Tate (Monmouth, Illinois), freshman Lea Schmitt (Rockford, Illinois), freshman Caitlyn Stewart (Monmouth, Illinois) and Claire LaBadie (Griffith, Indiana) finished second with a time of 1:57.67. That time is the ninth best in Monmouth history for a 200 medley relay.
Tate finished second in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.27. She also placed third in the 50 freestyle in 26.15 with Emily Davis (Beloit, Wisconsin) earning a point in 32.81.
Warren took second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.71 and Schmitt posted a PR with a 1:13.15 to finish fourth.
LaBadie had a PR in the 100 yard freestyle at 59.61 to earn two points and freshman Abbie Ames (Rhinelander, Wisconsin) picked up one point at 1:03.59.
Stewart placed fourth in the 100 butterfly in 1:05.84 and third in the 500 free in 5:37.82. Nicole Fitch (Marengo, Illinois) picked up a point in the 500 free in 5:58.63.
Freshman Allie Warren (Galesburg, Illinois) finished fourth in the 200 freestyle in 2:10.51 and sophomore newcomer Addie Smith (Monmouth, Illinois) earned a point in 2:13.90.
Aiden Bach (Stetsonville, Wisconsin) earned a point in the 200 IM in 2:35.68
The relay team of Fitch, Bach, Smith and LaBadie finished third in the 200 freestyle relay to earn two points with a time of 1:51.72.
The Scots are back in action at home next Saturday with a multi-team meet that starts at 1 p.m.
