[Galesburg, IL] - The cast has been set and tickets are on sale now for the Prairie Players Civic
Theatre production of Guys on Ice, An Ice Fishing Musical, May 26 through 29 at Prairie Players
Civic Theatre, 160 South Seminary Street, Galesburg, IL.
Guys on Ice spends a day in the life of Marvin (John Siebken) and Lloyd (Bob
Fornander)—fishing buddies and home-grown philosophers. Fellow fisherman, Ernie da
Moocher (Mark Kelly) is the kind of guy who always says the wrong thing, maybe on purpose,
maybe not.
Be transported to the secret world of ice fisherman and those tiny wooden shanties on the ice as
you enjoy musical numbers like “The Wishing Hole,” “Ode to a Snowmobile Suit,” “Fish is the
Miracle Food” and “The One that Got Away.”
Guys on Ice was originally written by Fred Alley with music by James Kaplan for a joint
production of American Folklore Theater and the Milwaukee Repertory Theater.
Director Vera Fornander says, “During a trip to Door County in the late 90s, we found out that
Peninsula State Park was home to the American Folklore Theater, now known as Northern Sky
Theater. After ordering and listening to the audio cassette of Guys on Ice, I knew we needed to
bring it to PPCT. It’s fun for all!”
Performances will be Thursday, May 26, Friday, May 27, and Saturday, May 28 at 7:30 p.m.
Matinee performance is Sunday, May 29 at 2:00 p.m.
Tickets are $16 for adults and $9 for students and can be purchased online at prairieplayers.com
or by calling 309-343-7728.
Guys on Ice is supported by the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency, and the Galesburg
Community Foundation.
