Men's Relay Breaks 23-Year-Old School Record at Grinnell Invite

The Monmouth College men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Grinnell Invite on Saturday. The men's Sprint Medley Relay team broke a 23-year-old school record while Miranda Hursey (Hanna City, Illinois) and Makaiha Moore-Bell (Knoxville, Illinois) put up top-10 performances in Monmouth indoor history.

MEN

The men's sprint medley relay team of Janius Taylor (Lakeland, Florida), Da'Von Patterson (Ponte Vedra, Florida), Adrian Outlaw (Galesburg, Illinois) and Eli Newton (Dallas City, Illinois) set the school record as they won the events in 3:33.01. The performance broke the record of 3:33.71 set in 2002 and is also a facility record for Grinnell's Bear Athletic Center.

Newton also won the 800m race, for the second week in a row, with a time of 1:58.66. Outlaw took third in the 400m race at 52.72 and Taylor was fourth in the 200m race at 23.11.

Shane Anderson (Lisle, Illinois) won the weight throw for the second straight week as he threw 17.80m. Caleb Toberman (Clifton, Illinois) took second with a throw of 17.60m. Toberman won the shot put at 15.07m

Matthew Bright (Macomb, Illinois) was third in the pole vault at 3.50m.

WOMEN

Hursey moved up to fifth in the school record books for indoor pole vault with a PR of 3.45m, a Grinnell Invite record. She won the event as Megan Dailey (Pendleton, Indiana) placed third with a season-best 3.00m and Delaney Rexroat (Monmouth, Illinois) took fourth at 2.86m. Rexroat was also fourth in the long jump at 4.64m

Moore-Bell took second in the 60m race with a new PR of 7.97 seconds, the sixth-best 60 in school history.

Jillian Toth (El Paso, Illinois) won the weight throw at 15.43m with Kayla Braun (Evansville, Illinois) in second at 14.87m. Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) won the shot put at 13.20m.

Samantha Costello (Morris, Illinois) took second in the 5000m race with a time of 20:17.18.
