Pastor Amy Ann Holman Obituary

Pastor Amy Ann Holman, a mentor to many and friend to all, died January 8, 2022, at Richard Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

Born July 21, 1961 to Greg and Barb Ellcey, Amy embraced the 60's hippy movement as a lifelong lover of nature, music, and her fellow man. In her youth, she was active in the Wataga Congregational Church and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1979 making too many friends to count and building lasting relationships along the way. Her two children, Samuel and Emily, kept her busy for many years as she volunteered at Sunday school, helped lead both boy and girl scouts, served as room mother for school parties, participated in after school programs, made it to every sporting event, and was a taxi to all the kids in the community. She was a book worm, a talker, a singer, a gardener, a cat lover, and, above all, a nurturer. Amy spent the last 16 years of her life dedicated to ministry and sharing God's word working as a pastor in the United Methodist Church. She served churches in the Washburn, Bradford, and Bushnell areas. In her time with the church, she welcomed 3 grandkids who quickly became the light of her life. Despite a stage 4 cancer diagnosis in 2019, Amy truly lived life by continuing to support her children, grandchildren, and anyone in need.

Amy leaves behind her cherished parents Barbara and Gregory Ellcey of Marshalltown, IA; 2 kids Sam (Corinne Nance) Holman of Wataga and Emily (Ben Leezer) Holman of Toulon; 3 beloved grandbabies Charlotte, Rylan and Archer; a sister and best friend Beth (Jeff) Holt of Galesburg; an uncle, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as many friends and lives touched through her kindness and guidance in faith.

Visitation for Amy will be held Friday, January 14, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services of Galesburg. Funeral will be held at the United Methodist Church of Elmwood at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2022. Rev. David Pyell and Rev. Rebecca Klemm will officiate. Due to guidelines associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, facemasks will be required. Memorial contributions may made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the American Cancer Society, or Vested Interest in K9s Inc.
