Planning for 2021 Railroad Days

GALESBURG - In 2020 Railroad Days was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This year the Railroad Days committee is prepared to go ahead with Railroad Days as long as restrictions for Covid-19 are lifted.

“Our hopes are that restrictions will be lifted by the State of Illinois to allow festivals. We are prepared and ready to have Railroad Days if those restrictions are lifted. We will have a better idea of what we can do by May 1.” stated Dennis Clark.

With the current restrictions insurance companies cannot insure a festival because the liability is too high.

“We are dependent upon the decision of the governor and the state reducing restrictions to allow festivals. Once restrictions on festivals are lifted we will try to have as many activities as possible. For sure we will have the carnival Thursday through Sunday. Everything else will be held on Friday night and Saturday (water fight, car show, basketball, historical tour, and the model train and toy show).” stated Clark.

Hopefully as more people get vaccinated the governor and state will lift restrictions on festivals, which would allow the Railroad Days committee to announce the date for Railroad Days in May.
