The Monmouth College cross country teams competed against Division 1, Division 2, Division 3 and JUCO teams on September 20 night at the Bradley Intercollegiate at Detweiller Park in Peoria. Running an 8K for the first time this season, Senior William Plumley (Geneseo, Illinois) recorded a 20th place finish to lead the Scots.
Plumley ran a career-best 26:37.67 for the 8K race and finished 20th overall, seventh among D3 competitors. Xander Stoub (Palos Heights, Illinois) ran a career-best 27:59.865 to finish 36th just ahead of Eli Newton (Dallas City, Illinois) at 28:00.185. Freshman Fernando Avila Rubio (Alpha, Illinois) finished 41st in 28:29.185 with classmate Nico Yeo Wiedman (Henry, Illinois) in 78th at 25:10.645. The men finished in sixth place for the team event, one spot ahead of Illinois College. They were second among all Division III teams.
The women's race was 3 miles and Samantha Costello (Morris, Illinois) led the women with a 57th place finish at 20:05, dropping 52 seconds off her time from this event last season , Melissa Bivolarov (Arlington Heights, Illinois) finished 76th in 22:00.531 FreshmenPaige Luntsford (Cairo, Missouri) finished 85th in 23:14.881 and Kaeley Kent (Springfield, Illinois) finished 92nd in 24:12.141. The women did not record a team score.
