Prairie Fire Baseball Lost to Monmouth

GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire baseball team dropped a Midwest Conference game to Monmouth 6-3 on Thursday afternoon.

Knox plated a run in the second inning to take an early lead, but the Fighting Scots jumped on the board with three runs in the top of the third. The Prairie Fire responded with a run in the bottom of the third. Monmouth added a pair of runs in the seventh inning. Knox rallied in the ninth, but only scored one run and left the tying run on deck to end the game.

Matt Shover led the Prairie Fire with two hits in four at bats. EJ Roncone, Chris McTeague, and Cole Tanner each added an RBI.

Tyler Bialek was the tough luck loser on the mound. He gave up three unearned runs in the three innings of work.

"We just didn't have it today," said associate head coach James Clark. "We gave them some runs early and then couldn't piece together enough good at bats to make up for it."

Knox returns to action as they host Ripon on April 23.
