Prairie Fire Men's Basketball Dropped in Midwest Conference

LAKE FOREST, Illinois - The Prairie Fire men's basketball team dropped a Midwest Conference (MWC) contest to Lake Forest 65-63 on Tuesday night.

The Foresters jumped out to an early 14-6 lead in the first half, but Knox battled back to a one point deficit with 8:14 left in the first half. Lake Forest responded by ending the half on a 19-8 run to take a 38-26 lead into halftime.

The Foresters expanded their lead early in the second half, but Knox slowly chipped away at the lead and pulled within two with 3:24 left to play. The Prairie Fire kept it close the last few minutes, but could not quite tie the game or take the lead. Lake Forest held on for the two point win.

Jordan Rayner led Knox with 19 points and shot 4-of-7 from long-range. Sean Gallery added 13 points and eight rebounds. Isaiah Lockett also tallied 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting.

"We showed some real fire in the second half to work back from a double digit deficit," said head coach Ben Davis. "We didn't try to do too much and put ourselves in a position to be there late in the game. We will get back to work and hopefully start winning some of these close games."

The Prairie Fire return to action as they host Lincoln Christina in a non-conference game on January 8.
