Racist Divisive Letters Left at Galesburg Homes

Updated: Jun 22, 2021

The Galesburg Police Department has responded to numerous cases of someone depositing zip lock bags with letters in them at Galesburg residences. The zip lock bags have rocks in them to weigh them down.

The letters have racist and divisive language and content inside. The Galesburg Police Department and the City of Galesburg strongly denounce this type of behavior. Galesburg is an inclusive community and we strive to treat all people with dignity and respect.

Many residences in Galesburg have received these letters. The Galesburg Police Department is asking for the assistance of the public in identifying the people responsible for these letters. Any home video showing the letters being left would be helpful as well. Similar letters have been found in Monmouth and Knoxville.

Anyone with information on these letters or who is responsible can contact the Galesburg Police at (309) 343-9151 or the Galesburg area crime stoppers at (309) 344-0044.

You can also text your tip to Galesburg Crime Stoppers at 274637. Text keyword "Galesburg" and then your tip.
