Sorensen Announces Winner of 2024 Congressional Art Competition

Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) congratulated Pekin Community High School senior Rachel Fry on winning the 2024 Congressional Art Competition for Illinois’ 17th District. Her winning submission, Clownish Tomfoolery, will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building for one year.

“Young people across Central and Northwestern Illinois are going to be the key to ensuring our neighborhoods are prosperous for generations to come,” said Sorensen. “It is an honor to host this competition that celebrates the amazing artistic abilities of our high school students. It is my hope that these competitions inspire more students to pursue their passions.”

The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 and has accepted more than 650,000 pieces of art from high schoolers nationwide. Artwork from each congressional district is selected to be displayed at the U.S. Capitol.

The winner of the Sorensen’s Congressional Art Competition was selected by local leaders in the arts from Illinois’ 17th Congressional District.
