The Performing Arts Academy presents Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr. on Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 1 at 2 p.m. The musical is based on the 1994 Broadway production and the animated feature film. The cast of over thirty-five is directed by Tim Holmes and Katy Redington.
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr. is a fantastic adaptation of the story of transformation and tolerance. It tells the classic story of Belle (Jensen Stoneking), a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast (Tanner Karns), who is really a prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.
The cast includes Kena McCance, Jackson Hillhouse, and Benjamin Plattner as the Beast’s trusted household servants Mrs. Potts, Lumiere, and Cogsworth. Sterling Cramer is the handsome but conceited Gaston and Mallory Fineran is his trusty sidekick Lefou. The show also features Kaleb Trone (Maurice), Finley Kane (Chip), Lily McNally (The Wardrobe), and Julia Evans (The Feather Duster).
Performances of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr. will take place at The Orpheum Theatre, Galesburg, Illinois. Tickets are on sale now at The Orpheum Box Office, 309.342.2299 and online at www.galesburgorpheum.org.
