This Weekend in Bishop Hill

A weekend of live music, art, and fellowship awaits at Bishop Hill Creative Commons!

Friday, January 20th Elizabeth Moen, a self-taught guitarist who wrote her first songs while attending University of Iowa, will perform with her full band. After graduation, Moen gave up her lease in Iowa City and toured for two years across the USA, the UK, and the EU, eventually making Chicago her homebase. Last month she released a new album, “Wherever You Aren’t”, which has already received much critical acclaim. Patty PerShayla & The Mayhaps, a blues/rock trio from Michigan, will open the show. The concert will begin at 7:00 P.M. and will be preceded by a potluck dinner, starting at 6:00 P.M. Suggested donation is $15-25.

Saturday, January 21st, from 10:00 A.M. to noon, artist Luann White will host a Valentine-themed door hanger painting workshop. The design will be drawn in advance. Necessary supplies and instruction provided. The cost for this workshop is $20 and can be paid the day of the workshop.


Sunday, January 22nd the award winning trans-Atlantic chamber folk group, Skye Consort & Emma Björling will perform an intimate concert featuring special arrangements of songs & tunes from Sweden, Norway, Ireland, Scotland, England, Québec, Acadia, the USA, as well as original compositions. The group finds the stories, melodies, and themes common for these countries and brings old stories back to life in a contemporary musical setting. The concert will begin at 7:00 P.M. and will be preceded by a potluck dinner, starting at 6:00 P.M. Suggested donation is $20-30.

Also, the Champagne Academy of Irish Dance, which meets at the Commons and virtually on Mondays at 4:30 P.M., is taking sign-ups for the next session of Irish Dance classes, which will run seven weeks, January 23rd through March 9th. All concerts are family-friendly and open to guests of all ages.


The venue and art cooperative, located at 309 N. Bishop Hill St, Bishop Hill, Illinois, also contains and has for sale the works of local and regional artists, who work in a variety of mediums. It is open Thursday through Sunday 11:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M.
