The Farm Expo is considered the largest student-run agricultural event in the country and will include displays of farm tractors and machinery, ag sales and service, ag management, emerging ag technology, livestock and crop supplies, conservation and ag structures. A variety of craft vendors will be available upstairs in Western Hall, as well as free children's activities, including a bouncy house, face painting, and glitter tattoos. Additionally, WIU faculty and students will display their research.
Display spaces for the event are still available and can be registered at bit.ly/496GhWl.
In addition to the show, the WIU Aggies will also host an Aggies and Friends social from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb.17 at the Park Place in Macomb. Registration for the event is $10 and $5 for WIU students. This event is partially sponsored by Sullivan Auctioneers, a Big Iron Company.
The event gives alumni an opportunity to visit with fellow Leathernecks and learn about happenings in WIU's School of Agriculture, and the annual Distinguished Alumni from the School of Agriculture will be honored. Registration for the social can be completed by visiting bit.ly/Aggies24.
"The Ag Mech Club has been providing residents of west-central Illinois and the tri-state region the opportunity to explore the agricultural industry first-hand by touring the Ag Expo, since 1970.” WIU School of Agriculture Director Andrew Baker said. “The members of the Ag Mech Club dedicated a substantial amount of time and effort in converting Western Hall into the largest student-run Ag Expo in the country. This event is one of the premier annual events that the School of Agriculture hosts and we are super excited to welcome the general public to explore the agriculture industry by visiting all of the vendors at the Ag Expo."
The Ag Mech Club's advisors include WIU Ag Instructor Jana Knupp and Associate Professor of Ag Daniel Atherton.
