For the second time in three years the Monmouth College women's basketball team has earned Academic Honor Roll Special Mention from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). Teams with at least a 3.0 GPA are eligible for the Honor Roll and the Scots ranked just outside the Top 25 with a team GPA of 3.507.The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2023-24 season is the 29th in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.Monmouth last earned special mention after the 2021-22 season
Earlier this month, 10 of the 14 student-athletes on the 2023-24 women's basketball team were named Academic All-Conference for the Midwest Conference. Four players: Ella Goodrich (Minonk, Illinois), Allie Hoy (Woodland, Illinois), Averi Rangel (Moline, Illinois), and Kynlee Stearns (Gilson, Illinois) were named CSC Academic All-District in March with GPAs over 3.50 while also playing in at least 90% of the Scots games this season.
The women's basketball team is the seventh Monmouth team to earn a national academic team award for the 2023-24 season. They join volleyball (AVCA), women's swimming (CSCAA), men's and women's tennis (ITA), women's track and field (USTFCCCA) and baseball (ABCA) as honorees.
