Women's Soccer Falls at Millikin on Sunday

MONMOUTH, ILL. The Monmouth College women's soccer team lost their first road game of the season 8-0 at Millikin on Sunday evening. The Scots are now 1-1 on the season and their four-game road trip continues with three more games in the next six days.

Neither team scored in the first 15 minutes before Millikin got on the board. They doubled the lead in the 38th minute and scored with just two minutes to play in the half for a 3-0 lead.

The Big Blue scored four goals in a nine-minute span in the second half to go up 7-0 with 22 minutes to play. They added an eighth goal with 10:30 left on the clock.

Jae Mitchell (Rockford, Illinois) had Monmouth's only shot on goal for the game. Bronte de Zwart (Ridleyton, Australia) started in goal and made four saves in the first half on seven shots on goal. Lea Selquist (Peru, Illinois) played in goal for the second half and didn't have a save.

MONMOUTH MOMENTS: Avery Parks (Bloomington, Illinois), Madison Walker (Vernon Hills, Illinois), Nicole Koppers (Tinley Park, Illinois) and Elizabeth Schmidt (Waverly, Iowa) played all 90 minutes. Schmidt has played all 180 minutes on the season. The Scots used eight subs off the bench on Sunday. The Scots play at Benedictine on Wednesday before weekend games at Rockford and Edgewood. The Scots next home game is Wednesday, Sept. 13 against Dubuque at 4:30 p.m.
