The Monmouth College women's soccer team lost 8-3 at home to Illinois Wesleyan on September 21 in a game that was shortened by lightning, The Scots (2-4-2) finish non-conference play on Wednesday night at Westminster.
The Titans scored a long distance goal from the left wing in the third minute. The Scots tied the game seven minutes later as Danielle Beach (Geneseo, Illinois) finished off a breakaway in a 1-on-1 situation for her sixth goal of the season. IWU scored five times in the next 15 minutes to lead 6-1. Nylea Cruz (Silvis, Illinois) got on the board in the 40th minute with an unassisted goal. Mariah Hobson (Princeton, Illinois) sent the Scots into halftime down 6-3 as she scored from distance with 24 seconds left in the half.
The Titans scored five minutes into the second half and made it 8-3 in the 55th minute. The game went into a lightning delay with 17:40 to play and the rain quickly followed. Since the game had completed 70 minutes, it was considered a final.
